Dark Gray

about

'Dark Gray' is one of two tracks we recorded while recording 'Thoughts Of A Dying Man', but which didn't make the final tracklist.

'Dark Gray' talks about the disaster that took place at Pukkelpop 2011 and about how one of the highlights of Summer turned into a nightmare. Although none of us were at the festival when the events took place, we all had friends and family present at the festival and up until this day remember very well where we were when the news came in. The powerlessness. The uncertainty. The fear. While waiting for a text... Don't forget to tell your loved ones you love them.

lyrics

To those who will forever dance at a place where Summer never ends. Come dance. And so it begins on a hot Summer day and we are feeling alive, feeling alright. This whole place is alive. But there is something in the air tonight. Something off and unpredictable. Unaware of what is to come. The party must go on. As the wind announces the oncoming storm and the last cheer vanishes into the dark of night. The panic is in our hearts and we run for our lives. But I don't know where to go, staring into the eye of the storm. I don't know where they are. I don't know where you are. Overwhelmed by fear I see no way out. So run. You better run my children. For death is close. I can sense its presence. And as we stare into the eye of the storm, we are on our own. So run on home, my brother, run on home. There must be light after the storm. I have to believe that there is a way out of this, that I will see you again. Must keep searching to suppress this reality. Just need a sign that you are safe, a text that says you are okay. But these children are kids no more. Forever carved in their hearts. What their eyes have seen today can never be undone. Now bring them home, please, for they are safe, but they are not okay. Please bring home peace so there is time to grief. As only time might heal and only time will tell if they will ever dance again. Things will never be the same. And although this music plays it makes no sense at all.
